Hi! I’m Kim.

First and foremost, I am an adult child of refugees, an artist, and an art therapist. I was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and currently reside in San Antonio, Texas. My journey with art therapy began when I used art to understand my experience of being raised by my parents who are survivors of the Vietnam War. From personal experience, art is a profound way of looking at pain whether it’s interpersonal or self-doubt. I also believe art and imagination can address our bodies' biological survival responses in ways rational thinking and talk therapy can't.

My focus as a therapist is on understanding the impact of historical and intergenerational trauma on your well-being. For the past 5+ years, I've had the privilege of working with people who experience trauma-related issues. I have 4 years of experience working with those who struggle with systemic issues such as chronic homelessness and criminal justice.

As someone who has sought therapy, I understand the challenges of finding the right therapist & prioritizing your self-care. My goal is to foster an environment with open communication so that you feel safe showing up as your authentic self and making room for growth. My training and approach to healing include somatic abolitionism, trauma-informed care, person-centered care, strengths-based treatment, mindfulness, and creative arts therapies.
